BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

All Saints’ Church, Rothbury

The dial lies on the ground beside the porch. The main south face has the date ’1714’ and upright Arabic numerals 6 - 6, with hour and half-hour lines. Above is a polar dial with hours 8am to 4pm and a cross for noon. The dial, a substantial chunk of masonry, was most likely taken down from its site over the porch for safety. It was originally marked out with ’white lead and lamb [lamp?] black’. Ref: ’Upper Coquetdale’, 1903, by D Dippie Dixon, pp 403-4. The church also has a couple of mass dials.
