BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

40 Church Street, Stony Stratford

South-east facing vertical dial on the front of a house. This street (and much of the town) was burned down in 1736 and William Mead rebuilt it - the sundial commemorates this with its motto ’Tempus et Ignis omnia perdunt’ (Time and Fire destroy all things). The initials ’W.M.’ refer to Mead. The date ’Ap.17.1739’ appears to date the dial which was made by someone with the initials H.A. The dial shows 4am to noon in half hours. It has Roman numerals with a cross patty at noon and IV (not IIII) at 4pm.
