BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

86 Side, Newcastle upon Tyne

The dial is over a barber’s shop in a street called ’Side’, i.e. the castle side. The picture shows it after a repaint. It is a puzzling dial, telling the wrong time. It is delineated for a declining dial, but the gnomon is on the noon line as if it faced south. A large, prominent dial with deeply carved fruit swags above in the semicircular arched recess.
