BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The Old Low Light, North Shields

The dial is mounted on the second storey above the main entrance door. Only a patch of engraved surface remains, approx. 35cm square. Upper root of gnomon within faded marks of a sunburst. Remnants of hour lines 11 to 2, three declination lines for northern summer period including solstice, others presumed missing. Some vertical azimuth lines surviving, marked: SE, SEBS, SSE, SBE, South, SBW, SSW, SWBW. No nodus found on the gnomon. Ref: History of Northumberland Vol. 8, Tynemouth, by H. H. E.
