BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Gate House Outward Bound Mount School, Eskdale Green, Holmrook

The dial is in front of the house. It shows 4am to 8pm in 30, 15, 10, 5 and 1 min marks. Central compass rose. EoT scale of Clock Faster/Slower type. All numbers subsidiary to Roman chapter ring are Arabic. Maker’s name is on South perimeter. Preceding the date is marked 1st Mar (or May). Solid gnomon. Dial plate inclines 3 degs to N. Set on ornate, octagonal red sandstone pedestal which is loose on circular plinth, 930h. NB (1) Properly known as Gate House it was previously the home of Lord Rea. RS 2006. NB(2) Approx NGR only.
