BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Cumbria

The dial is kept indoors. On the south rim is ’R. ADIE / LIVERPOOL’ edged by two curling feathers. In the centre is an 8-pointed compass rose, then EOT rings. The hours are divided to 15 and 5 minutes, then individual minutes numbered in 10s in Arabic. The replacement gnomon is said by the owner (Tony Mercer of Mercers Ltd. of St Albans, makers of marine chronometers who had been Chairman of the British Horological Institute) to be based on a dial at Kew Gardens. The underside of the dial plate is silver plated, now tarnished.
