BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Hardwick Hall, Chesterfield

The dial is kept within the building, as one enters through the west door, and stands unsecured on a shelf. It is not placed outside because of theft risk. It is very well made. The bands for the equator and polar circles are concaved, ie cut as sections of a sphere, not rolled bands. There are no tropic circles or other bands apart from one which represents the ecliptic. This is narrower, thicker and not concaved. Letters and numbers are painted black. The ecliptic ring is marked with small zodiac signs. The earth is represented by a ball about 38mm diameter. The maker’s name is on the south face of the equator ring, ’Joseph Bramble / 407, Oxford Street / London’
