BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

King’s College (1), Cambridge

’Ut hora sic fugit vita’ (Life flies away like an hour) is the ominous motto which crowns the vertical dial mounted to the east of the south door at King’s College Chapel. Though the dial is dated 1733, it carries the inscription ’J.C.1578’ which is currently unexplained. The painted black numerals and lettering are complemented by gold ornamentation.
