BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Newnham College (1), Cambridge

Among the flower beds at the south-west end of the Newnham College gardens the questing visitor will find this small brass memorial dial. It was erected in memory of Alice Hopkins who, in August 1898 at the age of 23, died in the Alps with her father and brother. It was made by T. Bailey, with the gnomon being replaced by A Brookes on restoration in 1984. Update Oct 2019 - the replacement gnomon has been stolen; a new one is to be made by the Department of Engineering.
