BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The Old Chapel, Bolham

The Old Chapel has now become a private house but the passer-by can see the shield-shaped dial on the gable end. It has a hollow centre with hour numerals round the edge and shows Noon to 4pm. The reason for the lack of morning hours must be that the dial, though facing South is in shade until noon (and presumably after 4pm as well). The date is incomplete but appears to be 187x . It measures 910mmh x 610mmw.
