BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Penshurst Place (1), Tonbridge

Originally located in the orchard, this sundial has a motto (twice) that reads: ’Quo Fata Vocant’. It has a very ornate dial face with the Sidney family coat of arms, fleur de lys, flowers, and a pre-1752 Equation of Natural Days (Watch Faster/Slower) . There is the maker’s name, T Heath Fecit. The hours are shown from 4am to 8pm in 30, 15, 7.5 and 1 minute marks (with scales from 3:50am to 8:10pm). The numerals are read from outside the chapter ring. The dial is engraved to a standard Grocers’ Guild pattern. The dial has become more corroded in the past 20 yrs. It sits on a pedestal approximately 4’ high (1220mm). Some Penshust dials have been taken indoors following the theft of SRN 0578 in 2004.
