BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
In the centre of a flower bed at the top of a flight of steps, south east of the house, is a brass horizontal sundial showing the hours IV-VIII divided into halves and quarters. The motto reads ’ Sun or shadow God rules’. It is mounted on an ornate red sandstone pedestal which stands on two octagonal steps.
