BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Andrew’s Parish Church, Sutcombe

The slate dial is inset into a stone frame on the porch. It has a break-arch pattern and, for once, the rector, John Lethbridge, has managed to have his name engraved in the arch ahead of the churchwarden and in larger letters too. Below his name is the date, 1785, and in the lower part of the circle surrounding the gnomon root the churchwarden’s name, E. Walter appears. The dial shows VI - VI divided into halves and quarters. Noon is marked by XII and 4pm by IV. Only a fragment of the scrolled part of the gnomon supporter survives. The dial measures 450mmw x 610mmh.
