Church of St Peter, Shirwell

Though this slate dial is sited quite high on the porch it is shaded by trees for much of the middle of the day. It is canted so as to face due South. In the arch is inscribed the date 1756 and a sun face surrounds the root of the gnomon. The hours VI - VI are divided into halves and quarters with the half hour markers each ending in a diamond. A decorative cipher indicates noon. The dial measures 610mmw x 750mmh.
