BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The oversize securing clips fixing the dial to the porch are the first thing to strike the observer. Fortunately they don’t obscure anything important. The arch has a decorative border and below it appear the words ’Time’ (in Roman capitals) and ’Eternity’ (in framed Gothic letters). Apart from that the dial is a plain and practical timekeeper with the hours VI - VI divided into halves and quarters. It was made by Amos Dabb, a local stonemason and schoolmaster, in 1820.
