BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St. Martin’s Church, St. Martin

This church is about a mile from Looe, lying in a hollow above the town. This slate dial on the south transept has several interesting features. The hourglass at the top and the motto, "So soon passeth it away" (Psalm XC v10) send the same message. For once, the rector, Jonathan Toup, has managed to get his name on the dial, and above the churchwardens, Paul Nicholas and John Little. The date, 1762 is inscribed either side of a blank space round the gnomon root and the rim of the dial plate is nicely shaped and appears intact. The VI - VI numerals are engraved according to the "anticlockwise convention" (Cf. Braddock, SRN 2640) and the hours are divided into halves and quarters.
