BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Paternus’ Church, North Petherwin

North Petherwin has only been in Cornwall since 1974 so that when Mrs Crowley drew this dial in 1953 she included it in her second Devon sketchbook. As usual, the churchwardens of 1821 have not only found themselves a prominent place at the top of the dial but here they have described themselves as ’Esq’. The hours are not subdivided which is perhaps unusual on a dial of this quality.
