BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Peter & St Mary Magdalene, Barnstaple

This handsome octagonal slate dial over the south door has a gilded sun around the gnomon root and the numerals VI - XII - IIII - VI, the names of the churchwardens (Goss and Williams), and the date 1732. All are gilt. The hours are subdivided into halves and quarters. Pevsner gives the dedication of this church as St Peter and St Paul and, unusually for him, mentions the sundial. It is quite a large dial, measuring 914mm across the points.
