BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Bridge Street, Bideford

Originally this dial was on the Bridge Trust building but when this was demolished in 1882 it was moved to its present site near the Town Hall. It was made in 1692 of painted wood . Its motto reads: "Sol tibi signa dabit"(The Sun will give you a sign , a quotation from Virgil, Georgics I, l463). Noon is marked by a Tudor rose. The dial measures 1020mmh x 610mmw.
