BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St James’ Church, Iddesleigh

Much of this dial is still wonderfully legible though the staining of the slate due to the rusting away of the gnomon makes it a little difficult to read the date, 1720, and the initials IH. The date coincides with a partial rebuilding of the church and the initials may be those of the maker of the dial though they do not fit any known diallist of this date. The initials at top ’WA:WC’, are surely the churchwardens. Full sun face around gnomon root. Upright numerals VI - ’noon’ - IIII - VI, with a fleur-de-lys for noon. Half hour lines with fleur-de-lys, and quarter hour marks. Decorative floral border. The dial measures 460mmh x 300mmw.
