BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Thomas a Becket Church, Dodbrooke

High on the porch of what was once the parish church of Kingsbridge, this dial has worn well since it was put here in 1763. The top part of the slab is occupied by the date and a motto, "Lex Dei Lux Diei" (The Law of God is the Light of Day). The border of the dial was once coloured red but there is no trace of that now although the border remains a lighter colour than the rest. Apart from the shapely outline of the dial there is little attempt at decoration and the hours VI - VI are shown divided into halves. The gnomon, which has a scrolled support, merits a noon gap to compensate for its width but this is absent. The dial measures 450mmw x 760mmh.
