BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The slate dial on the porch is in a poor state due to erosion and lichen colonisation. When Mrs Crowley drew it in 1953 she could see the decorative flourish (? The monogram JC for John Curtis, the vicar of1729) and the date 1736 in the arch but it would need the eye of faith to detect it now. The same is true of the sun at the gnomon root and the cross which marks noon. Even the Arabic numerals 6am to 6pm are illegible while the subdivisions into halves and quarters drawn in 1953 have to be imagined. The dial measures 530mmh x 380mmw.
