BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
Situated high on the South aisle buttress this dial shows the damage it suffered when it fell in 1958. It had not been replaced when Mrs Crowley drew it in 1959 but it now is back in place with a new and rather odd arrow-shaped gnomon. At the top appear the words "We Must", and so familiar must have been the words of this punning motto that it was not thought necessary to add the remainder - "Die All".The date 1736 can be seen in the circle surrounding the gnomon root. The dial declines East and shows 6am to 5pm in half and quarter hours. The names of the churchwardens Jon Wadland and W. Andrews appear in prominent letters at the bottom of the dial. The dial measures 550mmw x 910mmh.
