This slate dial is to be found on the porch of the old church, remote from the village centre, which was saved from demolition when the new church was built in 1878, by donations and protests from John Ruskin.Mrs Crowley’s 1953 drawing shows many more features than can be discerned today. The date 1726 across the top has disappeared as have some of the numerals. It shows VI - VI divided into half hours. There was a sun face surrounding the gnomon root. The gnomon seems to have been replaced. Secured to stone wall by four clips. Top corners damaged. The dial mneasuires 450mmw x 600mmh.
