BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Mary’s Church, Seaham

The dial is above the porch. Upright hour numerals VI - XII - IV - VI, divided to half hours (with triple dots) and quarters. Figures and lines are deeply incised and well cut. The gnomon was missing in 1983, but a good replacement was installed by 2015. A large shield above once held a lengthy verse, recorded in Gatty. Gatty also gives the inscription across the top of the dial, ’Seaham in Latitude 54d 51m’, now only partly legible, and other names. Ref Gatty 1900 Motto 1382.
