BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The dial is Grade II listed and is located at the east end of York Minster on the green. It was originally at Drakelowe Hall in Burton on Trent, and was re-erected in its current position by the Friends of York Minster in 1955. It is about 4m tall overall with a ball finial about 23cm in diameter. It is mounted on a fluted Doric column, 25 cm diam at the base and tapering slightly. Around the base is a circular stone seat supported by four lions. There were four faces, each with intact gnomons, in 1995. Updates: The dial was restored (and the north face gnomon was corrected) in 2004. By April 2006 the west facing gnomon was bent, and by 2018 the north gnomon was gone, as was the ball finial.
