BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Jude Church, Knarsdale

A simple dial with little more than the Roman numbers remaining but is typical of many remote Northumbrian churches. The dial may be older than the present replacement church. Below is a stone plaque with ’ERECTED / AD 1835 / REVD THOMAS BREWSHER RECTOR / WILLIAM PARKER / JOSEPH RICHARDS / CHURCHWARDWNS’. Below that are two further stones, the upper recording restoration in 1892, the lower possibly recording a later restoration; but both stones hard to read.
