BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Sizergh Castle [NT], Sedgwick

A beautiful setting a couple of miles south of Kendal, but an unremarkable dial with triangular gnomon of thin plate which is a replacement for the original. The dial plate is a bit buckled, though horizontal. Noon is a cross patty; there are no minute marks. Access is across the croquet lawn and up the staircase to the south-east corner of the castle, and the dial is on the right hand side.
