BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Mary’s Church, Bosley

On the south side of the churchyard an ancient stone shaft with dial dated 1652 and initials JH, TM, and CW, CW probably means Church Wardens. The dial is part of the church yard cross which is 16th century. That information is dated 1947, but due to acid rain little can be seen on the dial nowadays. It was common for early church dials to bear the name of the churchwardens, they were of course the persons in charge of the fabric of the church.
