BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Lyme Park [NT] (3), Disley

The dial is on the building known as Lyme Cage, an Elizabethan Tower, rebuilt in 1733-35. The dial may postdate this, and was restored in 1998. The motto reads: "Cras Minus Aptus Est" (Tomorrow is too late). There is some damage to the left hand edge. Ref: Mrs Gatty, who quotes the motto as "Cras minus aptus erit" (Tomorrow will be less seasonable).
