BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
A slate dial with an arched top and mounted on the church porch, this is of good quality though somewhat damaged. It has been suggested that the maker was the renowned Jno Berry but though the date 1767 corresponds with the time he was working there is no other evidence to support this claim. The dial is canted East to such a degree that one would expect a declining dial here and this may be an indication that the maker did not have knowledge enough to design one. A sun face surrounds the gnomon root and the gnomon itself has a sickle-shaped feature on its supporter. The hours are divided into halves by lines bearing a fleur-de lys and further subdivided into quarters. Noon is marked by an ornamental device. In the centre of the dial are the intials of the churchwardens.
