BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Cumbria

The farmhouse is on the A595, just south of Sellafield Nuclear Power Station. The top two sides of the octagonal shape are serpentine. The motto across the base reads: "Aetas rapuit diem", but Gatty 3rd Ed 15, has "AETAS RAPIET DIEM" (Time will hurry away the day), and the dial was repainted in the mid 1990s. The dial shows 5am to 3pm in half and quarter hours, the half hours marked by inward lines with stylised fleurs de lys. The location is approximate.
