BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Mary the Virgin Church, Great Shelford

The dial, which probably dates from the time of extensive 18th C repairs, is high above the south porch entrance. The incised lines and lettering show 6am to 6pm in 30 & 15 minutes. Half hours are marked by inward lines and by a dot between the numerals in the chapter ring. Uses upright Roman numerals with noon as XII and 4pm as IV. There is a stylised sun around gnomon root, and the short iron gnomon has a single angled strut. The date 1789 is in gold at the top, below the short canopy. By May 2107 the statue of the Virgin below the dial had suffered and the head of the Child was missing. In August 2019 the whole statue appears to have been missing.
