BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The dial is to be found in Old Court. Despite its antiquity it is a bright and cheerful member of the Cambridge dialling family, and is plentifully equipped with time-telling functions for both day and night. Since it declines 13 deg to the east it moves early into daytime mode. It also offers information on azimuth and altitude, dates, times of sunrise and zodiacal divisions, and the table at its base gives daily corrections for the telling of the time by moonlight. The designer is unknown; sadly Newton, who has been suggested, was only born in 1643!
