School Project Equatorial Sundials

Alba and Edward

Entered into the 2025 Design Awards

These sundials are about 25 cm tall and were made in November 2025 for a year 4 school project. The multi-coloured one is Alba's and the white one is Edward's. Each sundial is a 3D-printed equatorial with a string gnomon. We didn't have time to add a bead nodus but we will. The dial can be adjusted for a range of latitudes. It can be set up very easily on any level surface. The hour numbers on the equatorial ring are marked by hand on Edward's sundial and printed onto Alba's sundial. Learning about sundial making has been fascinating and extremely fun.
