Newsletter

The BSS Newsletter is sent to members by post 4 times a year and we also reproduce each issue here on the web site with an archive of back issues for reference purposes. I hope that you will find this section of the site to be of interest and I would be happy to receive your comments. Please remember that it is your Newsletter, so anyone wishing to communicate with other members of the Society is welcome to do so through these pages.

Members wishing to contribute to the Newsletter can send their contributions to newsletter@sundialsoc.org.uk. Copy dates are: February 15th, May 15th, August 15th, and November 15th respectively.

FROM THE CHAIRMAN

As I write, I am about to set off for the 2012 NASS Meeting in Asheville, North Carolina. This sounds to be a fascinating place in its own right, a splendid setting in which to talk about and hear about sundials.

The new BSS Council has met twice since our own Conference in Cheltenham and our immediate priorities are to enhance the website and to give thought to celebrations in 2014.

The Cheltenham Conference was a most enjoyable occasion for all those who attended, with the customary excellent talks on a wide range of dialling topics. We were especially fortunate to have Professor John Heilbron to give the Andrew Somerville lecture. He spoke about Pope Clement XI and Francesco Bianchini, one of my favourite Italian diallists!
