Please take one picture close up and square on to show detail. It is most important that the photo is not taken from the side or with the camera angled downwards. If the dial is high up, please just do what you can, thanks.

A second picture should show the location of the dials. Perhaps place a bag below it and count blocks up, put a Post-it note on the dial block, use an arrow or ring in Photoshop to indicate the dial. A picture can be better than a thousand words. But if it is simpler to describe the location, please do that.

About the dial

E.g., "South porch entrance", "Inside the church", "Chancel 2nd buttress/window from the east end".
Total number of dials present on the building.
E.g., "1 of 3", "2 of 3".
The direction it faces, e.g., "South 180", "East 90".
Specify units: mm or cm.
In millimetres.
E.g., "none", "1", "2", etc.
Radii of the shape the dots form.
Number of lines still visible today.
Probable number on the original dial.
Average length in millimetres.
E.g., "left 000", "down 90", "right 180".
Is the gnomon still present?
E.g., "dial block", "vertical joint", "adjacent block", etc.
In mm; state "empty" or "none" if appropriate.
In mm; state "filled" if applicable.
Type of numerals visible on the dial, if any.

Copyright in all submitted material remains with the recorder/licence holder but, by sending it to the Society, it must be clearly understood and agreed by all affected parties that title to the material passes to BSS and by the act of such passing, the Recorder/Copyright holder grants to the Society a perpetual and irrevocable licence to use any part or all of the submitted material as it sees fit and without restriction in furtherance of the Society's aims.
