There are two different types of dial in Bridol, and we need to record different information for each.
Mass dials are normally scratched on the walls of churches in medieval times, and are used to split the daylight hours into a number of different periods (to tell you when to pray). The length of time for the periods varies with the seasons.
Sundials measure 'equal hours', i.e. 60 minute hours, that are the same at all times of the year, and are what you think of as a modern sundial.
